Ceramic relief
This ceramics project let's you express your ideas and designs on a flat-surfaced clay. Roll out a slab of clay of about 12x8 size using the huge slab roller. I then, cut out a medium sized round clay for my main dream catcher. The 3 smaller circles of clay are the pendants that will hang down in the air. I added designs such as the individual leaves and noodle-like things using the extruder to add texture to the whole piece. The background, I pressed on swirl patterns to add design and texture on the slab. It was pit fired, which added a burnt look effect. Since, this project requires for mixed media, I painted the whole piece with acrylic paint instead of glazing it. Then , I sprayed it with polyurethane to add shine. Also, I added brown hard-yarn for the strings where the pendants hang and different colored-feathers to hang down from it.
