TEapot
To make a teapot, I used the pottery wheel like how I did with the mugs previously. To start a teapot, is similar to starting a cup or a mug. After it's centered well, I compressed-and-released the clay to take the excess water and clay off so it's not too heavy and compact like a rock. Then, I put my two fingers on the middle of the clay to open it up to the form I want and made it hollow. After that, I used a flat, wooden tool-shaped like a quarter of a circle-to make the level for where the lid is gonna go later on. The teapot itself is done for now. Clean off the wheel and throw another ball of clay to make the lid. I made the lid of the teapot by starting how you start with making a cup. The only difference is that you don't open up the middle too much, just a little dip. Then I made it to the size and shape of the teapot that I first created. Another component of it is the spout-you can't pour anything out of a teapot if there's no spout. The spout is made the same as a cup, only, but it's a lot skinnier and taller. When all of the pieces I made dried up some, I trimmed it on the wheel again so to create lines and remove unnecessary clay. While, trimming the lid, that's where I added the ball-shaped noblet(the handle of the lid) by scoring and molding it to the teapot. To attach the spout to the teapot, a hold is made just big enough for the surface of the spout, then it's scored. After it's been glazed and fired in the kiln, its TEA TIME!
