dinnerware set
For Ceramics 2 final exam, we are to make a dinnerware set. This set includes a cup, a plate and a bowl that has to be tied together by a theme of your choice. My theme is square, and purple and pink. I added a small plate to my set even though it's not in the requirements. Every single piece of my set was not made on the wheel but rather, I made it from a slab. Each of them started as a slab that was rolled. The small plate was made by starting off with a square slab and lifting the four sides using foam to support it. Also with the plate, it started as a square and I used foam to put a little curve and width on each 4 sides. Making the bowl was a little trickier than the rest because I had to make sure while lifting the sides of the the squared-slab, that the corners are sealed completely and that there are no cracks. The cup started off as a long rectangular slab, then I rolled it sideways to achieve equal lengths and widths of each side. Then, I put a base or bottom for the cup so liquids won't just spill out of it. I used my stamps to each of the pieces of the set. That's part of my theme as well.
